Primary teaching resources can cover a wide range of different materials from games to reading books, worksheets, workbooks and computer disks. Primary teachers now have access to a lot of free primary teaching resources on the Internet that they can download or print off easily and on demand. Children like primary teaching resources that engage their imagination. Some worksheets can be boring and tedious with lists of facts and figures, although not all. There is a place for thorough practise of topics using worksheets, however, there is also a need for creative and interesting games and activities that give a broader aspect to a topic.

Key stage 1 and 2 Maths games and English games can be used in the classroom with small groups of children to practise different areas of these subjects. Times tables, addition and subtraction, fractions, division, place value and other topics can all be practised through games such as board games, flash cards and card games. Primary teaching resources can be acquired through a wide variety of well-known educational suppliers and publishers. Reliable and thorough schemes are popular in schools as they provide a structured progression for pupils to work through. There are also primary teaching resources for children with different needs from the mainstream. These could be children with dyslexia or other special needs, gifted and talented children, or children learning English as a second language. Primary teachers can select from a vast choice of materials to meet the different needs of their pupils.
