These plain wooden accessories are excellent for learning numbers and letters. Children from 3 years upwards can try to recognise the different shapes and older children can learn the sounds that match each letter or number. Learning numbers and letters is the basis for literacy and maths so it’s very important that each child is confident when using them. This can be difficultfor children with dyslexia who can struggle to match symbols with their sounds. So for these children learning numbers and letters can be an ongoing process which needs repetition and recapping over time.

Using wooden letters and numbers adds a tactile element to learning. Children can feel the physical shapes and activities such as drawing round the letters and numbers or tracing with a finger can help a lot. For those who are familiar with learning numbers and letters these handy sized wooden resources can be used to play games, make up words, practise alphabetical order and make up sums. Plus much more….

For spelling help they provide both lower and upper case letters and with 60 letters in each bag there are plenty to make lots of words. For maths the bag of numbers has three sets of figures, 0-9 and the common maths symbols so that sums can be made and answered using wooden numbers. This can help to show how sums are set out (for example tens and units). So learning numbers and letters is easy with these handy bags of wooden accessories.
